Editorial standards

Editorial policy

The standards every review and guide on this site is held to — and what to do if we get something wrong.

Independence

Our recommendations are chosen independently of commission. No brand pays for placement, no manufacturer sends us free units, and no commission rate influences a ranking. When the cheaper product is the better buy, we say so — even though the pricier one would pay us more. If that's ever not true on a given page, that page is a mistake, and we want to hear about it.

How we choose products

We only write up real, currently-sold products, and every one is resolved against Amazon's live catalog — we don't review from memory. Picks are scored against a published rubricusing manufacturer specifications, manuals and aggregated owner reviews. A product we can't research doesn't get a score.

Accuracy & sourcing

Every factual claim about a product — wattage, capacity, program list, warranty — comes from the manufacturer's published documentation, cited on the page. We treat spec figures as manufacturer claims, not guarantees. We never fabricate a specification, a rating, or a review count, and we never claim hands-on testing we didn't do.

Prices

Prices are pulled live from the Amazon Product Advertising API and stamped with the date we fetched them. If our data is more than 48 hours old, the number disappears rather than go stale. Amazon's price at checkout is always the one that counts.

Updates & refresh cadence

Roundups and picks are re-validated at least quarterly — we confirm each pick is still sold and still best-in-class, and update the "Updated" date shown on the page. Model reviews are revisited when a successor launches or specs change. Prices refresh daily and need no manual update.

Corrections

If we publish a factual error, we aim to correct it within 48 hours of confirming it, with a visible note on the affected page. Spotted one? Tell us — a reader who catches a mistake is doing us and every other reader a favor.

AI & how this content is made

Content is researched and produced with the help of software tools and reviewed against the standards above before publishing. Regardless of the tools involved, the rules don't change: real products, cited specs, live prices, no fabricated claims, and a human-readable method anyone can check.
